Prime development opportunity

Absolutely unreal the size of the explosion. Those grain elevators(?) are tough as hell apparently.
![]() 08/05/2020 at 14:37 |

Damn. The ship on its side really brings it in.
![]() 08/05/2020 at 14:38 |

Saw a video on Facebook of someone driving on the highway a good distance from it. The explosion shattered every window in the car, pushed it out of its lane, and set off the side airbags.
![]() 08/05/2020 at 14:39 |

I didn’t notice the ACTUAL FUCKING CRATER until I enlarged the photo. Damn.
![]() 08/05/2020 at 14:40 |

Here’s a 100 ton explosion. The blast in Beirut was 18x as powerful.
The bomb dropped on Hiroshima was 130x...
![]() 08/05/2020 at 14:42 |

Have you seen the videos?
![]() 08/05/2020 at 14:47 |
|
Well, I suppose that’s one way to add a yacht basin to the waterfront.
![]() 08/05/2020 at 14:51 |

They are saying it was in the kilotons of power, just crazy. I mean an entire ship got toppled over and there is a huge hole in the ground.
![]() 08/05/2020 at 14:53 |
|
Yeah, sank one ship, and “blew” another one out of the water.
![]() 08/05/2020 at 14:54 |

There was one someone was taking from their car 1700' away. The shockwave broke their windshield and deployed the curtain airbags.
![]() 08/05/2020 at 14:55 |

I want to see what they protected. That was a lot of energy that didn’t make it down range to the SW. Curious if there are fewer broken windows in that area.
![]() 08/05/2020 at 14:56 |

i have....but somehow that before and after pic really drove the point home
(tho the videos are pretty fucking mental)
![]() 08/05/2020 at 15:09 |

Seriously, no wonder Elon wants to turn them into space ships!
![]() 08/05/2020 at 15:18 |

how is that building at ground zero still standing? In yesterday’s videos I was assuming that sucker was just evaporated.
![]() 08/05/2020 at 15:20 |

Sound on for badaboom
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

I believe this should be declared as the worst error in the history of human judgement. The fact that the death toll isn’t standing at several thousand right now is a miracle in and of itself.
![]() 08/05/2020 at 15:23 |

I noticed what looks to be an E39 M5 lurking in the background.
![]() 08/05/2020 at 15:26 |

The Guardian has several videos embedded in the attached article that are worth a read and a look:

Closeup from the Times (well from Hussien Malla) : https://www.nytimes.com/2020/08/04/world/middleeast/beirut-lebanon-explosions-photos.html

J ebus. I mean that looks pretty on par with the smallest tactical nukes. No mushroom cloud, and a slightly smaller fireball, but that kind of shockwave is not something you us ual ly see in non-nuclear explosions.
![]() 08/05/2020 at 15:42 |

sure seems like it was a poor decision to have that much boom stored there.....for 6 years...
![]() 08/05/2020 at 15:43 |

still standing...somehow...not much left of the side facing the boom

Concrete. Lots of concrete.

Why don’t we make every building out of grain silos?
![]() 08/05/2020 at 16:27 |
|
Imagine how fucking terrifyin g it would be to see that. I would have just assumed it was a nuke or something. Jesus.
![]() 08/05/2020 at 16:50 |

Was the epicentre just a warehouse?
![]() 08/05/2020 at 18:15 |
|
I believe so. Where the crater is, a warehouse was.

so August will be the month of the
Lebanese humanitarian disaster. Apparently
this is going south fast. That silo was supposedly
the larger stock of the country’s food supply
. The banks are corrupt
as fuck and has taken all the cash out of the country. No one has access to money. 300,000 displaced by the blast. 90% on the hotels are fucked and a
hospital was destroyed.
(all this is just shit I
’ve seen around the interwebs, good chance its true but I don’
t have sources
to copy at the exact moment)
![]() 08/05/2020 at 20:17 |

Also grain, probably absorbed a lot of the blast like sand does.
![]() 08/05/2020 at 20:19 |

rats
![]() 08/05/2020 at 20:26 |
|
So in Vancouver we have a sugar refinery next to a grainery next to a rendering plant. It’s like the Myan Riviera for rats!
![]() 08/05/2020 at 22:55 |

It’s close but it is not the worst. The Halifax Explosion (1,963 dead) and the Texas City disaster (581 dead) exceed it in both deaths and approximate yield (kt of TNT).
![]() 08/05/2020 at 23:15 |
|
sure looks like just a warehouse from above anyway
![]() 08/05/2020 at 23:18 |

yeah.....they are going to need a lot of help
